Members of the Select Committee

The Select Committee is made up of members, who will meet initially for 8-9 sessions (Phase One), to receive and cross-examine expert evidence and draw up an interim report outlining options for the management of domestic waste in the city of Newcastle.

The members are drawn from BAN Waste, with representatives invited from other community organisations and from Newcastle City Council, and an independent (external) chairperson. BAN Waste itself is made up of residents of Byker and Newcastle, allotment holders, Newcastle City Council members and officers, community representatives and representatives of statutory bodies. The Select Committee is however independent of any Council or group, and will produce its own report based on the expert evidence heard.
