Website hosts

All the pages and information for the BAN Waste website are now hosted on an account with sdf-eu.org, a public access Unix system based in Texas, USA. More background for this system is at the main sdf.org site.

Maintenance and updates

The website is currently being maintained by Andrew Gray, a member of BAN Waste, who can be reached at the maintainer email address at the foot of each page for any technical or website queries. The hitop HTML pre-processor is used to assist in the writing of this website.

Regular updates of news, Select Committee witnesses, events and other documents are enabled by the use of a specially-written Common Gateway Interface (CGI) script. The script also allows website users to register their email address for automatic notification of news and evidence updates. This script is written in the Perl language and licensed under the GNU General Public License, and extracts the data for updates from a MySQL database. A copy of the current version is available for download, and may be freely used by anyone maintaining a similar website. Please note that it is still unfinished and subject to extensive revision, and that it currently has no documentation.
