Tyneside Stop the War Coalition

Civil Disobedience

When rulers who claim to represent us refuse to listen to the people, when they gag parliament, when they try to scare, bribe and bully the world into war, then perhaps it's time for a little bit of civil disobedience.

Throughout history people power has stopped wars ... ousted unpopular governments ... toppled dictators ... just think of the Suffragettes, anti-apartheid campaigns, the civil rights movement in America ... all used non-violent civil disobedience and had a massive impact. We can too!

Reclaim our world!

If war starts,
Make your voice heard!

The day after war starts,
meet 8am at Haymarket Metro.

(except Sunday, in which case meet 8am on Monday)

See also the pledge page for a way to register your commitment to or support for civil disobedience in the event of war and to enable us to provide ongoing legal support. The events pages include other planned protests and actions in the event of war.
